Suppliers of the 1st Dark Sky Community (Wales & Mainland England)

TRT are proud to have supplied thousands of Optio Micro street lighting products for the first Dark Sky Community in Wales & Mainland England.

The historic Radnorshire towns of Presteigne and Norton are now officially certified by DarkSky as the newest Dark Sky Community in the UK.

This achievement wasn’t just about bringing more stars to the night sky, but also making a positive impact on the environment. Through this initiative, led by a small local community and Dark Source, we have not only re-created an equivalent lit scene with the use of warmer colour temperature LEDs but have also reduced CO2 emissions by 4.5 tonnes over the previous traditional light sources used, setting a vital precedent for the responsible illumination of both rural and urban landscapes.

It’s been a pleasure to work with Dark Source, Powys County Council and Presteigne & Norton Town Council and to have been part of this incredible achievement.
