From Outdated to Outstanding: Horsefair Underpass Upgrade

Horsefair Underpass in Kingston Upon Thames, is an essential 80m transport route with two traffic lanes in each direction. It is heavily used by pedestrians and cyclists, making efficient lighting crucial. However, the outdated lighting system required urgent replacement to enhance safety and meet modern standards.

TRT conducted site surveys and designed a modern lighting scheme aligned with Annex D of BS5489-2:2016, resulting in a proposal of X-Range Boost tunnel luminaires for installation. These durable, corrosion-resistant luminaires, made from high-quality aluminium, offer long life and easy maintenance. Their toughened flat glass cover ensures high luminous efficacy, while LED Protect technology prevents circuit disruptions, reducing maintenance costs.

With various optical configurations available, the X-Range Boost luminaires allowed for a tailored lighting solution that maximised visibility while minimising energy costs. TRT continued their involvement by supporting the project management during installation, ensuring a seamless transition.
